Welcome to Motor Alignment.co.uk from Monition Ltd
Shaft Alignment of Vertically Mounted Motors
The Fixturlaser XA is a powerful system for precision laser alignment of motor shafts in vertically mounted configurations. Features including: colour LCD touch screen, onscreen animations, Bluetooth data transfer, large detector areas, line laser technology and live onscreen measurements - combine to offer the most sophisticated and user-friendly vertical motor alignment system currently available. For additional information telephone Monition on 01909 722000. Alternatively you can email us at sales@monition.com.
Vertical Motors are normally mounted with bolts on a flange instead of feet, which make the calculation of the correction values different from horizontal machines. The bolts may differ in numbers and are situated on a circle around the flange.
The Fixturlaser XA and GO Motor Shaft Alignment systems can be used to measure and align vertically mounted and flange mounted machines and motor assemblies. Results are presented with positions for each bolt.

Vertical Motor Alignment - Ease of Use in the Field
Vertical motor shafts and couplings can be quickly and easily aligned with precision by using an expert Laser Shaft Alignment system with Vertical Motor Alignment capabilities, such as the Fixturlaser XA system.
The precision motor alignment process is straightforward to enable fast alignment checking: two laser units are attached to the vertical shafts that require alignment, one either side of the coupling. Measurements are then recorded from 3 points using the Clock Method, either by rotating the shaft through 30-40 degree segments, or by use of a special moveable fixture in cases where the vertical shafts are either locked and won't rotate, or where sufficient shaft rotation is not possible due to confined space or obstruction. The vertical motor shaft alignment system automatically measures the alignment of the two shafts, and displays to the user if the shaft is or isn’t aligned and indicating the precise amount of angular or offset misalignment.
Correcting motor misalignment is also a straightforward process. The Fixturlaser XA System has a 3D animated interface which shows users the exact amount of correction required to re-position the gearbox or motor so that perfect vertical alignment through the centreline of the two shafts is achieved.
This process is demonstrated on our short video page which can be viewed here
The Fixturlaser XA system has a ‘live’ screen so that any changes made to the position of the motor or pump are instantly displayed on the screen. The XA System indicates the amount of correction required to position the vertically-mounted motor or pump correctly.
Motor Alignment System Graphical Display
Vertical motor shaft alignment with the Fixturlaser XA system. The result screen shows the current position of the motor and clearly advises the necessary adjustments. The results from the entire measurement are shown directly on the display. The color codes indicate if there is a need for alignment. Green indicates within tolerance, orange near tolerance and red out of tolerance.
A precision Fixturlaser Motor Alignment System offers express alignment of motor shafts and couplings to within hundredths of a millimetre. Fixturlaser’s industry-leading Motor Alignment Systems offer sophisticated laser alignment technology that is fast and easy to operate in the field.
